Rachel Yuile Music (Many Hands charity concerts)

My teaching in Broughty Ferry will finish at the end of 2019, but I plan to begin teaching in Sheffield in 2020.

For ongoing professional development, I am a founder member of Curious Piano Teachers. Through various workshops, I can keep up to date on the resources and methods that best suit each student.

teaching

I teach from home in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, with my very large sheet music and CD collection within easy reach. My pupils range from 6 to "none of my business" and as no two are the same, I use a variety of teaching materials and tailor my approach to the learning style of each pupil. The self-discipline and commitment learned whilst playing a musical instrument definitely have a positive effect on other areas of education. Hopefully the experience will result in a love of learning that reaches far beyond piano lessons. I encourage creativity, and pupils are given the opportunity to enter the annual EPTA Composers' Competition, which is a national event. I have received Highly Commended awards myself. In 2010, one of my pupils won Category 1 of this competition and in 2012, another pupil was awarded 2nd place in Category 2 and was Highly Commended in 2016, then third prize in Category 4 in 2017.

Lessons are £34 per hour, pro rata for shorter lessons.

EPTA is the European Piano Teachers' Association, of which I am a member. The aim of the organisation is to promote excellence in piano teaching and peformance.

I have two teaching diplomas from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. When appropriate, I enter pupils for Associated Board piano, jazz piano and theory exams, and prepare them for the performance element of SQA exams up to Advanced Higher.
